Seven months on ....

Andy came home for his third overnight stay on Sunday evening. We enjoyed a walk around Bournville on Monday and managed to get to Cadbury World's cafe for a Frappe! Andy is doing really well at Moseley Hall and it has been the right thing that he continues his rehab there rather than uprooting and moving to Hunters Moor. In therapy, Andy is using a stand aid hoist rather than the overhead hoist with the aim that this can be used on the ward. This is great progress and will enable Andy to stand much more frequently and regain strength in his legs. Andy is starting to get a little more movement in his fingers. He will be assessed to see whether there is enough movement for him to benefit from a mechanic glove with springs; this accentuates the hand movement to enable him to do more functional tasks. Please pray that the movement in his hands and fingers improves. Andy has also asked for increased, controlled movement in his arms. God bless you for your faithful prayers.

  1. I saw Andy's story on the Daily Mail...and it instantly made me want to call my boyfriend of 9 years at work and tell him I love him. I was moved to tears thinking of myself in Emma's shoes.. and will keep Andy and his family in my prayers. Keep up the amazing work <3.

  3. my son had a severe injury in 1997 where his artery to the brain was pierced and he lost masses of blood so had brain damage he spent 6 months in hospital. We did not hold much hope for his future. Well he has amaised us all he is now independant living near us and even though he has lost the use of his left arm and has issues with
his sight he is still making improvements. He is really happy and so glad he is alive.

  4. If you are on Facebook have a look at a couple of groups. First one 'different strokes' which is a charity aimed at supporting 'young' stroke survivors. Also, my dads group 'Eddie pleban fighting back from brain stem stroke'. He was locked in for several months after a stroke in feb 2011 but now walking etc. he is a man of faith too so you may enjoy some of the articles from our local paper etc that I hope will boost your levels of hope x x xx.

  5. Just read this story in the daily mail today. Only as i started reading it and saw his picture i realised who it was i went to school with Andy from when we were small kids. Its been many years since i last saw him though. The story was very moving and came as a bit of a shock. i am so happy that he is progressing along and getting stronger. I hope the progress continues.

  6. Hello to you and God bless your loved ones as well. I am now one of your prayer warriors and will ask others to join me in prayer for you. My prayers often are answered tangibly, so continue to hope! I have not gone through what you are going through, but I do know how difficult it is to lose one's health and activity for a prolonged period of time. Keep going. Keep trying, and remember you are alive and just being there for your family is an enormous blessing already. They need you in spite of all. You have a beautiful face and I see the Lords hand on you. Bless you all! When I get to work again in a couple months I will remember you. Just as you have done for others previously, and will again.. Mary

  7. Hi Emma and Andy. I read the article in the Daily Mail and quickly recognised you both! I shared a room with you Emma on the Barcelona Oakhall holiday in October 2007. I loved meeting you and spending time with you and often thought of you both afterwards, wondering if you'd got married!
    Love, thoughts and best wishes,

  8. Hi Andy and Emma: I read your moving story in the daily mail. Although I live in the Philippines, I am connected to you in prayers. I am confident that God will heal Andy slowly but surely. Our God is the God of miracles! Just claim the promises of Hebrews 11:1..." Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." God bless you both!
